Many faces of Dylan
"Milkshake"
After every feeding we have to make sure Dylan burps. Otherwise, he gets uncomfortable and starts screaming. We usually start with him on on the lap, holding his chin up. When that dose not work, we put him over the shoulder and burps. When that does not work, as a last resort we do what Joe does on the video. "Milk Shake" position. He looks so cute!

Dylan's Friend Isamu
Couple of my friends and family had babies this year, which means plenty of playmates for Dylan!
Joe's cousin, Thao & Hung had a baby boy, Ethan. Our friends, Matt & Ai had a baby boy, Isamu. Our friends, Jina & Leo had a baby boy, Eugene.
ALL BOYS! Lots of boys this year. I am very excited for Dylan to meet his new friends.

Snoopy in Korea
So... I rarely find any Snoopy items in the states. When I was growing up in Korea, I remember wearing a lot of clothes with Snoopy on it. I don't know if it was legit or not, they sure have many Snoopy stuff.
My parents are going to Korea in a couple of weeks and I asked them to get Snoopy stuff for Dylan. Check out these cute clothes I found online.

The Happiest BABY on the Block
Dylan is calm most of the time except he gets fussy when he has gas pains & hungry. For this past month, I have been trying to cope his fussiness.. sometimes I don't get sleep at all because I have to hold him until he falls asleep and it makes my muscles sore the next morning.
And then... A MIRACLE HAPPENED. My sister Jenn's friend, Nicole introduced me to THE HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK. It is a Book & DVD set that you can purchase online that shows you 5 different techniques to calm your fussy baby down. They are called the 5 S:
1)Swaddling
2)Side or Stomach position
3)Shushing
4)Swing
5)Sucking
I tried this right away after he got fussy from gas pain and WOW... let me tell you, it was so amazing how it worked on him right away. I swaddled him and put him on his side on my arm and made shushing noise. His "calm switch" turned on right away and he was happy again. Now, when I put him on the swing, he is enjoying every swing.

Aug. 13th- One month update
Dylan is already 1 month old... I can't believe it!! He is now over 9 lbs and almost 22 inches long. I am so happy he is a healthy & happy baby.. well, except occasional fussiness.
When he is hungry, he gets really angry when you don't feed him right away. He hates pacifiers & diaper change. He loves to be rocked and loves to hear me play the piano. He also loves to take a bath and leg massages.
He already lifts his head up on his own and whenever he sleeps on his stomach and he can move his from one side to the other. He moves all over the crib and he always kicks off his blanket when he is sleeping. ( he got this from his mommy) Whenever you sing to him and talk to him with high-pitch tone voice, he responses to you by cooing.
It's been a great month getting to know our little guy!

Cradle Crap
Dylan is 1 month old now! About 2 weeks ago, Dylan started to get Cradle Cap. I would like to actually call it the "cradle crap". It is known to be caused by hormones left in mother's placenta. There is no treatment for it nor should do anything about it. His pediatrician Dr. Jacobson said it will go away on its own and that I don't need to worry about it. He was born with such a beautiful skin and it makes me so upset when I look at his face. I am just glad that it doesn't bother him and that he has no idea he has it. It's not like Eczema, which itches and bothers the baby.
Speaking of Eczema, I have somehow developed some similar condition to eczema on my body and it itches like hell. I have seen my primary care physician and a allergy specialist. Neither of them could figure out exactly what it is. The best they could suspect is eczema due to changes in hormones after pregnancy. I now have a appointment with a dermatologist - I hope he can figure out exactly what I have. I've been doing some research online and I've read many cases about women developing eczema after pregnancy even though there is no family history of such a skin condition.
I was supposed to go to a spa getaway for Christine's B-Day, but I decided not to considering my skin condition- I would be scratching myself the whole time!!! Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHRISTINE!

CALIFORNIA BABY

I took Dylan to the doctors office today because he developed a cradle cap on his scalp. Apparently, some 60% of infants develop this within 3-4 weeks after their birth. It looks like he has dandruff on his head he has redness on his cheeks and chin. Thankfully, it doesn't bother the baby. The doctor said it will go away on its own within couple of months. I've done some research online and a lot of the moms with infants who developed cradle cap loved CALIFORNIA BABY CALENDULA CREAM. It also works great on adult's skin with eczema/dry skin.
Anyways, I am very happy that everything else about Dylan is great. He is gaining weight like a champ and already grew another inch.
